Storms
"He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm." Mark 4:39
Today, as I look out my window, a blizzard rages. It is not as bad as the weatherman predicted, but we have high winds and icy sheets of rain. As usual everyone panicked when news of the storm came. Supermarkets were crowded and lines were long. The large home depot stores had empty shelves where the snow blowers and shovels used to be. Living on a farm Mike and I had special preparations to make. We got more hay and grain for the horses and goats. We moved the pregnant goats to the new goat pen, and sheltered the baby goats in the barn. We loaded up on wood and set up the generator in case we lost power. We believe in preparing for the worse, while praying for the best.
On my desk sits my favorite statue. It depicts Jesus standing in a boat while the apostles are sitting in fear and looking out at the water. It reminds me. In the midst of any storm in life - don't look at the storm - look at Jesus!
